AS Ekspress Grupp transfers its ownership in Geenius Meedia OÜ to Delfi Meedia AS

AS Ekspress Grupp is transferring its ownership in the subsidiary Geenius Meedia OÜ to Delfi Meedia AS, a media company belonging to the Group. Following the change, Geenius will continue to operate as an independent media outlet, maintaining its journalistic autonomy and distinctive content production.

According to Ekspress Grupp, the goal of the restructuring is to place greater focus on developing the content and new formats offered by Geenius, while also finding additional synergies in the administrative functions of the media companies. Geenius Meedia will continue to operate as a separate unit, preserving its unique editorial voice and independence. The Geenius.ee portal will likewise remain independent, continuing to focus on digital, automotive, and technology-related content.

All existing contracts and subscriptions of Geenius Meedia will remain valid, and no operational changes are planned. Martha-Beryl Grauberg will continue as Editor-in-Chief of the Geenius.ee portal. The current CEO of OÜ Geenius Meedia, Martin Mets, will leave the company at the end of December following the completion of the transition. Thereafter, the administrative management of Geenius Meedia will be assumed by Karin Vene, Head of New Business Areas at Delfi Meedia.

Erik Heinsaar, CEO of Delfi Meedia:

“Geenius Meedia has successfully operated within Ekspress Grupp for the past four years, but we see even greater potential for its clients, readers, and employees. This change allows us to provide Geenius with stronger administrative and technical support, leverage synergies across business functions, and focus on Geenius’s core strengths – high-quality specialist content and media solutions for business clients.

Our next step will be to further develop the Geenius media portal and strengthen its position as a media product offering valuable solutions for business audiences.

I would like to emphasize that Geenius will continue as a fully independent media outlet and portal, maintaining its distinctive content production and journalistic independence – the key factors behind its success since its creation.”

Karin Vene, Head of New Business Areas at Delfi Meedia:

“Geenius Meedia has carved out a unique position in the Estonian media landscape, and our goal is to strengthen that position even further. Finding administrative synergies will enable us to work more efficiently and provide Geenius with a stronger platform for future growth.

Geenius’s journalistic independence and distinctive approach will remain fully intact – that’s what makes it a valuable media outlet for both readers and advertisers.”
