Ekspress Grupp acquired a digital screen network in Latvia

On 4 January 2021, the largest Baltic media group AS Ekspress Grupp acquired the digital out-of-home (DOOH) screen network from the Latvian company SIA DIMAX in Riga, bringing the total number of digital screens of Ekspress Grupp located in Tallinn and Riga to 49.

The agreement between the Latvian subsidiary of Ekspress Grupp SIA D Screens and the former owner of the screens SIA DIMAX concerns five modern DOOH screens with good image quality and high resolution that are located in busy streets of Riga. The transaction price is undisclosed as agreed by both parties.

After the acquisition, Ekspress Grupp will own 14 digital screens in Latvia and 35 in Estonia.  With a total of 49 screens, Ekspress Grupp is the second largest owner of DOOH screens in the region and the only company that is able to offer its customers DOOH advertising simultaneously in Estonia and Latvia.

According to the Chairman of Ekspress Grupp, Mari-Liis Rüütsalu, Ekspress Grupp plans to continue making investments in expansion of the outdoor advertising network both in Latvia and Estonia. “Digital out-of-home media is demonstrating strong growth globally and the same trend is expected to continue after the lifting of coronavirus-related restrictions in the Baltic States. The strategic goal of Ekspress Grupp over the last few years has been digital revenue growth and the expansion of the outdoor media screen network will provide an excellent opportunity for this as we are currently the only media group operating in the DOOH area in both countries. Since we also own the leading news media channels in  Estonia and Latvia, we are able to provide visibility to our advertising customers simultaneously in both countries, in a wide range of different channels and at the lowest cost-per-contact”, explained Rüütsalu.

The digital screens of Ekspress Grupp are managed by the Group’s subsidiary Linna Ekraanid OÜ in Estonia and the subsidiary SIA D Screens in Latvia.

AS Ekspress Grupp is the leading media group in the Baltic States whose key activities include web media content production, publishing of newspapers and magazines and provision of printing services in Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania. Ekspress Grupp that launched its operations in 1989 employs 1700 people, owns leading web media portals in the Baltic States and publishes the most popular daily and weekly newspapers as well as the majority of the most popular magazines in Estonia.
